For my first post, I thought I’d do my most recent makeup look: my prom makeup! I know most schools have already had their proms, but this look can work for any special occasion, and it’s just so pretty and classic, every girl should have it as a go-to! I used my MakeupGeek shadows and my Jaclyn Hill Favorites Morphe Palette for the shadows but they are very basic colors that can be easily substituted with whatever you have in your makeup stash!
1.) For my face, I used my favorite combination of primers. (I admit, 3 primers is a bit excessive, but I have difficult skin and I’d rather use more primer and less foundation to avoid cake-iness.) First, I applied the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer all over my face to help my foundation stay all night. Then, I patted my MakeUp Forever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Smoothing Primer into my T-zone to keep that area matte and poreless. Finally, I added my other MakeUp Forever Primer, the Redness one, to the bottoms of my cheeks and my nose, where I tend to get red. I applied all these with clean fingers because it’s easiest. Next, I applied my MakeUp Forever HD Foundation with my Sigma Flat Top Kabuki Brush and blended it out with my damp BeautyBlender.
2.) For sculpting, I blended the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer under my eyes in a triangle shape, on my chin in a small cross, and in the middle of my forehead with a damp BeautyBlender. I set my whole face with the MakeUp Forever HD Microfinish Powder. (It was a MUFE kind of day.) I dipped my RealTechniques Sculpting Brush into the two shades on the bottom left of my Anastasia Contour Palette in Light and contoured under my cheekbones, along my jawline, and on the sides of m forehead. I sweeped my Becca Moonstone highlight on the tops of my cheeks with my Morphe M504 brush and finished my face off with the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Luminous Flush and my Urban Decay blush brush.
3.) Finally onto my eyes, I swept MakeupGeek Beaches and Cream all over my eyelids with a fluffy brush as a base for the other shadows, and used MUG Crème Brulee as a transition color in my crease. I started to build up the shadow in my crease with a neutral tone brown from my JH Favs Palette, then MUG Mocha, keeping the darkness focused in the outer corner and sweeping into the crease, building slightly up. Then I used the darkest violet shimmer shade from the JH palette on a pencil brush to really smoke out the outer corner and crease before tapping in some matte black. For the main lid color, I patted MUG Afterglow pigment all over my lid with a flat shader brush. I then went back in with the black shadow to blend it with the pigment and brought it down onto the outside of my lid in a V-shape. I used my Becca Moonstone as a browbone highlight and filled in my brows with the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Soft Brown. I applied a thin line of black Maybelline gel liner on my lid with an angled brush and sweeped the excess just under my lashes. I finished with a coat of the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara and a pair of Ardell lashes (I can’t remember the number!) before dousing my face in Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray.
4.) I kept my lips pink and light with the Urban Decay Naked Lip Liner, Mac Crème Cup Lipstick, and Mac Partial to Pink Lipgloss, that way they didn’t take away from my smokey eyes and they were easy to touch up throughout the night!
I hope you guys enjoy my first look! I know I enjoyed creating it and even though it seems like a lot, remember, it was prom so I had to go all out! Love ya, pretties!
